Innovative New High Reliability Organizational Assessment Available for Hospital Leadership Teams
Leadership involvement is key to success in using new assessment
(OAKBROOK TERRACE, Illinois – October 15, 2015)  The Joint Commission Center for Transforming Healthcare has released Oro™ 2.0, an online high reliability assessment and resource library designed to assist hospital leaders with determining their organization’s level of maturity in multiple components of high reliability and striving for the goal of zero preventable harm.

New Oro 2.0 assessment evaluates hospital high reliability maturity level  
Oro 2.0 is a Web-based assessment for hospital leadership that is accessible on the Center for Transforming Healthcare website. The assessment process guides the leadership team through a series of questions which allows for discussion and alignment on key strategic performance issues. Once an assessment is completed, a report is generated that identifies strengths and opportunities for improvement and directs the user to resources specific to their organization’s high-reliability maturity level.   The content included in the Oro 2.0 Resource Library focuses on the areas of leadership commitment, safety culture and performance improvement.

The quality of the Oro 2.0 assessment depends on ability of the senior leadership team to express humility and honesty through the process.”

Based on the content published by Joint Commission President Mark Chassin, MD, and the late Jerod Loeb, PhD, in Health Affairs and The Milbank Quarterly, the work to develop Oro 2.0 began in 2011 and it was pilot tested by more than 50 hospitals.

Oro 2.0 is complimentary to Joint Commission-accredited hospitals and may be accessed through the Center’s website or on their secure Joint Commission Connect extranet. Data is completely separate from accreditation and no information is shared with Joint Commission surveyors.
